Radial Introduces Cabbone - Guitar amp cabinet switcher with Slingshot™ remote switching.

Short Form description (Word count: 110)
Ading to a growing array of Tonebone foot pedals, Radial introduces the Cabbone, a guitar amplifier cabinet switcher that allows the player to transition from for example, a 2-12 open back Fender to a 4-12 Marshall slant using the same head. The Cabbone employs a timer IC to manage a series of high cycle relays that turn the cabinets on and off. A timed yet unperceivable overlap assures a constant load on the amplifier while guarrenteeing noiseless switching. Cabinet switching may be performed with the switch on the pedal or by remote control via simple foot switch or another Slingshot output equipped device like Radial's new Loopbone pedalboard controller. Suggested List Price USD$300.

Vancouver BC Canada – In response to the growing demand for greater tonal flexibility, Radial Engineering is pleased to add the Tonebone Cabbone™ guitar amplifier cabinet switcher to its growing line of Tonebone guitar effects pedals. Suggested List Price USD$300.

The Cabbone is a guitar amplifier cabinet switcher that connects between a guitar head and two cabinets to allow the guitarist to transition between for example, a Fender 2-12 open back cabinet to a Marshall 4-12 slant while using the same amp head or a combo amp such as a Fender Twin.

This is accomplished through the use of high-performance, high-cycle gold contact relays that turn the speaker outlets on and off. To ensure safe and stable amplifier operation, these are controlled by a Timer-IC that manages the cabinet/relay switching by providing a timed overlap. This ensures a constant load is applied to the amplifier, which as any technician knows, is a major concern with tube amplifiers. As a further safety measure, the Cabbone incorporates a power-off ‘Safe Mode’ that is automatically engaged should the power supply be disconnected or mistakenly turned off. In ‘Safe Mode’ the Cabbone automatically diverts the input signal to output-1.

The introduction of the Cabbone coincides with the introduction of a new remote control pedal interconnect system called Slingshot™. The concept behind Slingshot is to provide easy to use remote switching of cabinets, heads, amp channels and more from Slingshot equipped pedals such as the cabbone or the new Loopbone pedalboard controller, using no more than regular 1/4" to 1/4" guitar cables. To add versatility, Slingshot inputs may be controlled using either momentary or latching foot switches and standard 5VDC controller outputs as found on most MIDI controllers. The Cabbone’s Slingshot system also incorporates a remote output that can be used to remotely change the guitar amplifier channel.

According to Radial company president Peter Janis: “I have been using the Cabbone in our demo room with a 1980’s red-knob Twin and a Marshall 4-12 cabinet. I set the Cabbone up so that when I switch speakers, I also switch channels on the Twin by connecting the Cabbone’s Slingshot output to the Twin’s channel selector. All I can say is wow! A red-knob Twin into a Marshall is absolutely huge!”
