born Kirk Hammett took up the guitar for
the first time at the age of fifteen, beginning
with a mail-order catalog special and little
more than a shoebox with a four inch speaker
for an amp. After picking up a '78 Stratocaster,
Hammett attempted to customize his sound
with various guitar parts, eventually falling
for a 1974 Gibson Flying V. He even took
a job at a Burger King restaurant to raise
funds for a Marshall. Hammett's musical
interests eventually drew him into the fledgling
thrash metal genre. In 1982, he formed the
group Exodus with vocalist Paul Baloff,
guitarist Gary Holt, and drummer Tom Hunting.
Exodus was a crucial early player in the
Bay Area thrash movement. Hammett was invited
to join Metallica, and in 2002, he became
the first inductee into the Guitar World
magazine Hall of Fame. He has toured with
Metallica for more than twenty years and
has been a role model for many modern guitarists.

Frank Gambale began playing guitar at age 7 in Canberra, Australia where he was born and raised. He was influenced by the blues playing of Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall/Eric Clapton, and the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia. In his mid-teens he discovered Steely Dan, The Brecker Brothers and Chick Corea, which pointed him in a jazzy direction. In 1982 at 23, he decided to leave his home to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood. He graduated 'Student of the Year' and was offered a teaching position which he kept for 4 years. During that time he was playing the local jazz club circuit with his own band. In 1986 he began his recording career and was recruited to tour with Jazz-fusion violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. Shortly after, he auditioned for Chick Corea and began a 6 year stint which culminated in 5 albums, a Grammy award and two Grammy Nominations. Now, Frank tours and records with his own group, and records on his own 'Wombat' labels. Frank also delivered one album for Steve Vai's record company, Favored Nations, called "Coming To Your Senses," one of his strongest albums ever.

In Belfast, Northern Ireland, 16 year-old Vivian Campbell's first band, Sweet Savage, would come to influence 'metal' bands everywhere. One of these bands, Metallica, would later record their own version of Sweet Savage's "Killing Time" for their 'Garage, Inc' album. Vivian toured around Britain with Sweet Savage supporting bands like Thin Lizzy and Motorhead and at 19, played on the classic Dio albums 'Holy Diver' and 'Last In Line'. In 1987, Vivian was invited to join Whitesnake, a bonafide supergroup fronted by ex-Deep Purple vocalist David Coverdale. After this, Vivian yearned to create music that was more blues-based and less hard-rock, so the Riverdogs were born, a four-piece outfit with Vivian and cult blues singer Rob Lamothe. In 1991 during an extended hiatus from touring the call came from Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott. The tragic death of guitarist Steve Clark left a gaping hole in the line-up of one of the world's biggest selling acts, which Vivian amply filled. Thirteen 'Leppard years' later, living in Los Angeles, Vivian had immersed himself in the world of the local blues-club circuit, and produced the wonderfully spontaneous true blues solo album 'Two Sides Of If' in which he plays and sings on the same take.

Vinnie is joined by MSG drummer Shane Gaalaas, bassist Dave LaRue (The Dregs) and keyboardist Tony MacAlpine on his new album 'The Maze', which has been eagerly anticipated by guitar fans everywhere.

Winnipeg, Canada native Randy Bachman has seriously rocked out through several decades. Randy's guitar, vocals and/or writing can be heard on a string of hit singles and albums starting in the sixties with the Guess Who's 'These Eyes', 'She's Come Undone' and 'American Woman'. Later, Randy's band Bachman Turner Overdrive brought us the anthem of blue collar rock, 'Taking Care of Business' along with 'Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' and 'Let it Ride' – all staples of classic-rock radio to this day. Although several other band configurations and solo projects have never seen the kind of public acclaim of his '70s mega hits, Randy is just as involved in the music business, recording and producing new talent with his own record label and raising his son, Tal Bachman, who is now a hit songwriter and performer in his own right. Randy's reunion tours of both BTO and the Guess Who have been very successful and have brought his Lenny Breau influenced jazzy riffs and soaring solos to the fore once again. Dave's dedication to guitar and recording led to a Recording Engineering degree from Fanshawe College and BA of Music with a minor in Music Education from Berklee College of Music obtained on scholarship. Dave has performed in Florida, Seattle, Nashville, Boston, Toronto, Los Angeles New York and Vancouver. He also holds clinics and teaches for Berklee College of Music, the National Guitar Workshop, Parker Guitars, Digitech/Johnson amplification, Roland amplification and Vox amplification. In addition, he creates instructional material for Guitar9 Records, Guitarapalooza Records, Guitar Chef (Italy), Guitar2001, Guitar a Bas (Poland) and Divan Music. Dave has held clinics and performed with Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs), Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big), Jon Finn Group, Chester Thompson (Frank Zappa), Greg Bissonet (Joe Satriani), Marty Friedman (Megadeath) and Mike Portney (Dream Theater).
